Iced Bubur Chacha from Kopitiam (Plaza Singapura) So you might be wondering why the url of this blog is icedbuburchacha.blogspot.com. Well, it was definitely not a hard decision to make the name of this dessert (bottom picture above) the name of this blog although there were some runner-ups, such as sunnyafternoon (unavailable), mintytealeaves, or milkandhoney (also unavailable). However, icedbuburchacha is the perfect name and here are the reasons why. 1. It's so colorful! Iced bubur chacha is a popular local Singaporean dessert that is made with a base of finely shaved ice covered with yam cooked to the right tenderness , soft sweet potato, colorful jelly, and chewy tapioca cubes, and drenched in sweet coconut milk. Yum, writing this is making my mouth water. There is also another version that is warm and classified as a sweet soup (top picture above), which is perfect for cold, winter days, but that's never the case in a country with year-long summers, so I prefer the iced version. This dessert is a good reflection of how my blog will most likely be, a mixture of posts covering a wide spectrum of topics. 2. It's extra-chewy deliciousness! For tapioca fans, you need to try these tapioca cubes! I find them chewier than the spherical ones since they have are bigger in size so you have more to chew on! I think that's it for today but there'll undoubtably be more posts of food, especially desserts, and much more :) |
